Frame Vin
Hi everyone,
I was hoping for a little help with the location of the frame vin on a 1967 vette.
I thought it was supposed to be on the left side a few inches up from the rear wheel, but I've got no idea how to possibly view this without having the body off. I've got side exhaust and I can barly get my fingers up the side of the frame, I can't image how I'd be able to view the top of the frame.
Thanks for any thoughts.

There is two locations for the VIN on the left side of the frame. I don't think you will be able to see the one that is under and to the rear of the drivers door, but you should be able to see the one on top the dog leg with an inspection mirror. It is approximately forward of the half way point in that section of frame.

I'm a little new to this, what part of the frame does the "dog leg" refer to?
Thanks

On a '67, you'll find the rearmost frame VIN stamp centered on the front edge of the #4 body mount bracket, about 1/4" in from the outboard edge of the frame.

John,
I appreciate the reply but I'm a little new to this.
Can you describe the location in laymen's terms? and is it possible to view this with the body still on?
Thanks.

The picture is very helpful.
So, is the location by the mount before the wheel, or the one all the way at the back after the wheel? Right or left side?
Thanks

The driver's side #4 body mount bracket is shown below - the number is stamped on the top horizontal surface of the frame, about 1/4" in from the outside edge, centered on the front edge of the bracket. There's a gap of 1/2"-5/8" between the top of the frame and the body, and you can see the number with a small mirror after cleaning off the top of the frame rail.

Thanks John and all who have helped.
You all of course realize once I find this number I'll have a whole new set of questions.
My '67 has no other lineage beyond this number. It was, from what I was told, a stolen car in the state of NY and the state actually removed the VIN upon recovery and resale - they attached a yellow sticker with a new vin number.... so I've always been rather interested in trying to determine the car's original features and possible history.
