Default Drive your corvette to work day?

I seem to remember someone or a magazine setting aside June 30th as a day everyone should drive their corvette to work. Is that still happening? Sounds like a good plan to me.

I think that was set up by Mike Yeager at Mid America Motorworks.

Default CRUISIN' the BEACH -Fri. June 30,2006

June 30, 2006 - 6th Annual
"Drive Your Corvette To Work Day"

Celebrating The Enjoyment of America's Sports Car
Friday, June 30th, is the date of the 6th Annual Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. In honor of Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, enthusiasts across the United States make "America's Sports Car" their commuter car for the day. Every year, the Friday closest to June 30, Corvettes official birthday, is chosen to observe Drive Your Corvette To Work Day this is the first year the event actually fell on the same day.

Mid America Motorworks promotes Drive Your Corvette To Work Day among Corvette owners and clubs. The goal is to have as many Corvette owners as possible drive their car to work that day. Launched in 2001, Mid America Motorworks' Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is an annual event celebrated by thousands of Corvette owners.

"We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally," said Mike Yager, founder and "Chief Cheerleader" of Mid America Motorworks, the world's leading supplier of Corvette parts and accessories. "But we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are. And it is a chance for Corvette owners to meet new Corvette owners."

Corvette owners who observe "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day" are encouraged to send high resolution digital pictures of their car at work to clubs@mamotorworks.com. Mid America Motorworks will post as many pictures as possible right here.

If it wasn't for the heavy traffic here, I would drive it a lot more often to work. It would take me an hour and a half to get home (27 miles) as opposed to the 35 minutes it takes me on my motorcycle.
I usually only drive it to work, if I am going to a cruise-in after work, but I may drive it on the 30th

I used to drive my C5 to work everyday before I sold it. I never drive my C1 to work because I don't trust it's safety and security in our parking deck.

I drive my C6, 6sp, Z51 to work and back everyday (70 miles). My 66 roadster on weekends, but with the 110 degree weather lately, the C6 is much easier and is "cool" for this old man.....

I drive mine to work most days, unless a monsoon is going to hit...(Like this week), but I'll have mine at work Friday.

My avitar pic was taken at work a few years ago.

Default Drive To Work

As Subfixer said, I'll have mine at work on Friday also, unless the monsoon continues. I'm 50 miles north of NYC, and I have already had to drain out over 6 inches of water from my pool since last Friday. It's been raining so much here, that I had a dead frog in my pool. When was the last time you saw a frog drown ???

Sure, Mike Y. starts THAT 5 years after I retired...just like they invented the NCRS/"numbers matching" seven years after I buy my "NOM" '62!

Once again I am torn between getting a job or just driving around aimlessly.

Think I'll just drive around aimlessly.

At least it won't be 100 Degrees up there while you are cruising around although you might need to bring a paddle

Default Drive To Work

Well, it looks like the monsoon here in the northeast is over. The NYC metro area weather forecast for Friday is 80-85 degrees, low humidity, and NO RAIN !!! I wonder how many Corvettes I'll see tomorrow morning on the Taconic Parkway on the way to the salt mine ??? Will I be seeing any of YOU ????

I wish I could drive my Vette to work but unfortunatly, I work out of my truck. Maybe if I remove the trunk lid and install a pick up box inside like my dad did with the old Model A Ford way back when I was a tiny toddler. NO WAY! Just kidding guys!
I will be out looking for Corvettes today, and maybe take a ride to the bank after work to cash the check.
