Default Which are the correct valve covers for a 62?

Please describe the original 62 valve covers for a 327/250 H.P. Are they painted or finned aluminum?

Thanks!

The 250 and 300 HP took the orange painted stamped steel ones. The 340 and 360 HP took the finned aluminum ones.

The correct painted ones for 1962 cars were one year only. The earlier ones and the later ones are different. I see them on EBay for around $75. The incorrect ones are less.

The finned aluminum ones should not have the casting flaw in them. The casting flaw is a line through the "O" in "Corvette."

Are you looking to buy the correct covers? If so, get the NCRS Judging Guide (JG). I think it's around $15. It's got lots of information like this. It'll give you a better description of the stamped steel covers. You'll need the JG for other parts that will come up. You'll get the $15 back when it saves you from buying the wrong part from some EBay liar.

Or buy the wrong finned aluminum ones. They're prettier; easy to change; and, you'll get your money back if you sell them.

The correct valve covers for the 300 horse engine have small triangles at either end of the retangler box where the label goes. Later valve covers have larger triangles. When you compare them side by side, the differance is very obvious.
