Default 66 Problem getting Piston out of Power Steering Cylinder

Hi, We are trying to replace the seal on my 66 coupe 327/300. We can't get the piston out of the sleeve/cylinder, afraid to force it. Any suggestions ?

Many Thanks!

Dennis

I think you can't get it out because it is not designed to come out. I think you have to get a replacement cylinder. The replacement ones I have bought look like there is a new weld near the end of the larger cylinder, and that must be how they rebuild them. Also check the piston shaft about in the middle where it rides most of the time. If you can feel any roughness at that spot, no amount of seals will help. Needs new shaft.
