Gas Door - Assembly needed?
My chrome on my Gas Door is pretty good - but I need to replace the inside..........
so should I go with this?
ebay Item # Item number: 4572058294
Is it a pain in the butt to replace - I know replacing the entire gas door assembly is really easy - but have not looked into replaing the emblem by itself......
ok
thanks in advance

It's a real PIA to replace. I believe that 64's have the so called rivets cast as part of the bezel.
You have to drill off the heads to disassemble the lid. Then, you've got the problem of reassembling it, since you've ground off/drilled out the rivet heads.
Some use VERY small screws, some use epoxy. Regardless, it won't look "correct". I'd buy an entire new assembly.
I fooled around with several 63 gas doors many years ago. You just can't do it and make it look original. Chuck
