CBS News Story
I saw on tv tonight that a guy originally from New York City just got his 1968 Corvette Big Block Conv. back after it was stolen in 1968. He only had it for three months before it was stolen. After many years, he moved to California and just last month he received a phone call from the New York City Police Department that his car was recovered in New York City. It turns out that the car was recovered from a shipping container bound for Sweden. The customs agents ran the tags and found out that the car was indeed stolen. They tracked down the original owner in California. The corvette was repainted silver instead of blue and the transmission and fuel tank were missing. He is giving the car to his daughter. A cool story by far!!

The guy in Sweden is (technically) in a position of receiving stolen property (although he didn't know that), and the seller is (technically) in a position of possessing/selling stolen property (although he may or may not have known that), and the original owner gets it back. The issue between the seller and the Swedish buyer sounds like a field day for the lawyers.

Great, now I had original owners name which turned out to be misspelled. Atlanta Police Female Detective called, where is this Camaro! huh? FBI called and interviewed me, after interview said they already had car in their possession. Original owner wanted car back. Insurance company was out of business. Many of you know this car. The VIN is forever etched in my brain. 112xx
