Default 60's pulleys misaligned

My generator and crank pulleys are misaligned where the generator's pulley is about 3/4" offset toward the rear of the car in relation to the crank pulley. As far as I can tell, the bracket is original and unmolested and there is just the small generator fan and the pulley on the shaft. Can someone tell me what I'm missing or post a pic of their correct engine?

Thanks for any replies!

There's supposed to be a flat plate bolted to the ear on the exhaust manifold (through the two lower holes in the plate), and the generator mounting "U"-bracket is then bolted to the plate's upper two holes, which are offset forward of the lower two holes. If your generator "U"-bracket is bolted directly to the exhaust manifold instead, without using the intermediate plate, the generator pulley will be mislocated EXACTLY 3/4" rearward of its correct position, as that's the amount of offset between the two pairs of holes in the intermediate mounting plate.

Default Still confused???

John - Here are links to 2 big pics of my engine (dial uppers beware!). Can you, or anyone else, tell me what 'bracket' you are talking about?

The intermediate bracket I mentioned is in place in your photos - it's the flat piece bolted to the front ear on the exhaust manifold, and the "U"-bracket for the generator pivot mount is bolted to it. Looks OK - are you sure you have the correct crank and water pump pulleys?

Thx again for the reply. It appears that the crank and water pump pulleys are in the right place because the fan blades are half in and half out of the shroud and this is a low mileage car. Now that I am home and can get a closer look, the gap is actually about a pulley width or ~1/2". Are there any spacers or washers that I may be missing that should be added where the gen mounts to the brackets?

Looks to me like you have the wrong pulley on the generator. There should be a space approx. 3/8" between the back of the pulley and the front of the fan.

The one that's on there now is wobbly so I have a new one on order. At almost $100, it better be right! We'll see when it gets here. Thx guys for the replies.

Just make yourself a new intermediate bracket out of flat stock and move the gen. bracket forward the necessary amount.
