Default 4Wheel Disc Brakes on 63?

Is there a company that makes a 4 wheel disc brake conversion kit for the 63 Corvette? I know Willwood makes a front brake kit but I wanted a matched 4 wheel system.

Try "Vette Brake Products" they make lots of quality conversion and upgrade products, they should be able to help.

No need to find a conversion kit. Just buy all the parts that you would find on a 65 or later... The Wilwood kit is mucho mucho dinero if I remember correctly. I think that the front conversion would be easy as for the rear I think that you will have to basically rebuild the trailing arm.. If you are going to have to do that I would send them to Van Steel for the conversion.. The runout of the rotor has to be machined to the trailing arm so really not a do at home project... BTW what is your motivation for doing this swap? Others have posted before a properly operating drum set up works very well... Dave.

I do not know of anyone making a kit for rear discs on the 63.

I cannibalized a 65 for my front brakes and am leaving the rear drums on my 63 so that I will have a real working E-Brake. (Actually I bought the rear caliper mounts at Carlisle three years ago and have been otherwise occupied instead of converting the rears to discs.)

Have seen the rears done on quite a few 63/64 cars, just use the 65 up trailing arm assembies with the disc brakes on them.

Cheapest route is most likely just to watch for some on ebay and then send them off and have them rebuilt. I sold a pair of 65 front brakes that i had put new bearings in and reconditioned on ebay for a whopping 100/per side.

I have added considerable HP to the car with some other mods. (carbon fiber 427 BB hood, 2.5 inch electric cutouts, 20 inch wheels, AC, stereo). I decided I could always go back stock for resale but while it's my car..........I'll make it my car. Partially the reason is stopping power and partially driller rotors with red calipers.....would just set off the red interior with the Tuxedo black exterior (okay mostly looks ). I know that the rear drums are adequate but from an aesthetic point of few drilled disc would be my choice. I'm pretty sure I'm past being 'reasonable' and am now more into my personal customization.

I just love your car, where did you get that CF BB hood? As for brakes, precision brakes company makes very nice big brake upgrades for all vettes, you can choose between several different set up and they aren't that expensive either.

The hood is being custom made by Tuner Racing for about $2.7K http://www.tunerracing.com/ It should be complete in about 2 weeks. It will be the last item to complete the car....unless of course I find a set of disc brakes.

Sounds like you are on your way to making it your own. Congrats. It seems you are not on a budget so with the Wilwood fronts, See if they will custom make you some rears.... The money for the Wilwoods are just to much for me.. I'm poor.. Dave..

Would be far simpler and cheaper to do just the fronts. Will also be far easier to convert back to stock if you ever so desire. Differences in brackets due to the rear e-brake would require changes that could be visible upon restoration. Front brakes do most of the work anyway and you can get better compound rear pads for the drums.

I did the front on my '64 using parts from a '77 ($140 for both sides for swap meet parts). Just take everything between the ball joints. A new proportioning valve, residual valve, and hard lines and fittings added another $100. Some years later, a line lock was added and the calipers were swapped out and rotors turned.

In terms of all the necessary parts required to do a complete 4-wheel disk brake conversion I was quoted a price of $1000.00 from a Corvette recycling yard. I guess they don't use the term 'wrecking yards' anymore .. .. Included parts meant everything - master cylinder, trailing arms, brake lines, etc. from a 70's era car.
