Default Question for anyone living in Maryland

I am going to be moving from Virginia to Maryland. Can a car be registered as a classic vehicle in Maryland? If so what are the requirements?

Thanks

At 25 years old you can get "historic" tags. No inspection needed.. You can also get ones with "street rod" on it.

One more "requirement" You gotta pay 5% sales tax on the value of the car. Yep, it's true.

What others have said is true, 25 years old, can get "Historic" or "Street Rod" plates, etc., but you have to pay the tax man.

Don't know how they handle the "value" issue. On an old car, I've been told that recently they're checking used/classic values, in case you declare that your car is worth $500.00. Chuck

Historic tags cost $51 for 2 years. The restictions for historic tag use are the car cannot be used as a daily driver, cannot be used in a commercial
type use. As far as use of the car, the car may be driven any day of the week. Also if one can obtain a tag of the cars model year you can display that tag in lieu of the historic tag but the historic tag must accompany the car at all times.

If you go to one of the smaller satellite offices rather than the main Glenn Burnie office you will have less stress as the main office is big and stays supper busy. I used the Easton Branch, about as nice and easy as a DMV gets.
