I received a call from a friend in Nebreaska last evening. He has D & D #31, a coupe. It is not completed and he expressed an interest in selling. It is one car before my roadster #32 and has the tube chassis that is set up for the correct bump steer. He may post the specifics on this site or I can provide a phone number. I believe he has most all items to finish the car including suspension, aluminum small block, body, chassis, ect....
I don't know what he wants for the project. It still needs lots of work.

My buddy Ed has exactly what you are looking for. It is a dark blue Grand Sport replica on a 1981 frame. It really looks good. It has a 454, 4 speed, A/C, nice mags, nice interior. I drove it and it runs strong and handles well. I am not an expert but the exterior appears very correct based on pictures I have seen in several Corvette books.

If you want more information, specs, and pictures, call Ed on his cell phone: 210-508-2798. He is in the San Antonio, TX area.

contrary to popular belief- you can still get D&D body and frames. My buddy and I drove down to Ohio last spring and picked up a body and frame - I think he paid around $9500 for the pair.

They don't really advertise, but hey will sell a body once in a while on ebay. I will try and get my friend to write in and post some information for you on how to contact D&D (well really now its just "D") - I think they sort of split up the operation....

He told us when we were down there that they are trying to tool up again and start production of 1 or 2 bodies a month, but I don't know how far along they are yet....

Default Stay clear of D&D

Take it from someone who has dealt with D&D - stay clear of them. I have one his frame / bodies and I'm about half-way done. There are a lot of us out here who have sent him substantial amounts of money and have never received the parts. He's gone bankrupt several times, been sued just as many, etc. If you do choose to deal with them, never pay in advance (which is the only way they take orders).

Mid-America Industries seems to be the exact oposite. He's getting me parts for my D&D. You pay in advance too, but at least the stuff comes.

Jeff Leech from Mid America Ind manufactures the GS its the way to go (309) 787 5119. I would also take a look at "aworks" car on the forum its a gem. I am building a Mid America GS Coupe and I am very satisfied with the fiberglass parts and frame not to mention his customer service.

I have built both a D&D coupe and a Mid America roadster and the Mid America is the way to go. BillGS has my D&D coupe now and lives in Fla. He is also a forum member. Bill loves the car and drives it all the time. Nice to be in Fla. The D&D body needed much work to support it. I put alot of work trying to make a birdcage (if you will) so the body would not stress crack and the doors would not sag when you opened them. You D&D owners know what I mean. Bill tells me the car is still as tight as when I sold it to him. So if you were to buy a D&D body keep in mind you will have to do alot of fab. work on the inside or you will be sorry. Dean is the type of guy you would call a hustler. He will promise the moon and will give you as little as he can. And by the way my car has been gone for about five years now and I'm still waiting for parts to come from Dean.

Default D&D in jail?

I heard he was, but I don't know for sure. A couple of his frames and bodies have surfaced in Ebay over the last few years. I wonder if they let him do that instead of making license plates.

I heard there was a class action suit filed against him a few years ago. If anyone does another one, count me in.
