well it is a auction and you just never know what it will bring so don't write it off. but the add is very vague. if you can do some research on it and see when it was restored, get more pictures and to check off your boxes what docs it has, it could be worth a look. that is if you want a black on black car. while they look great clean and detailed they don't stay that way for long

I'm just reading this thread for the first time. I'm helping a good friend sell his restored, matching numbers, California black plate, 1965 L79, 4-speed coupe. Silver Pearl with Silver Leather, Tilt/Telescope steering wheel, sorted and ready to go. It's in the SF Bay Area, and not officially on the market yet. CADBrian, let me know if this is interesting to you.

they never had a tilt/ tele column. only Impala's had them. Corvettes only had a tele only column. with that said it sounds like a great car with a great color combo.

well that is lower then I thought. Wonder what’s wrong with it and or if my gut feelings are off on values. Brian May have lost out on a good car

I agree, but not much detail available in the photos. The problem is you don’t know where the auction would’ve gone to if you throw in one more really interested bidder. All it takes is one more person who may be willing to spend $100,000 on this car, and maybe the guy who paid 80,000 would’ve paid $101,000. And then you have the buyers premium on top of that.

well it looks good in pictures but under the right lights even a turd would look good. Too many variables here

Neither the corona virus nor the dismal returns of the stock market has diminished my search. Still looking to buy...

I think that is the one was discussed in anther thread about a recent auction and the car sold for 80-90k. If that is the case Brian sure did miss the boat

it is still listed on their site, and I actually just got a COVID-19 message from them and it was one of the featured vehicles in the message. Still hope!

All, read the ad/description very very carefully. You're all missing something.

The car that you are thinking of was the Mecum auction car that is in this same thread about 10 posts above, sold for $80k apparently). Yes I agree looks identical, long odds both black L36 a/c cars, red stinger, rally’s, tires. Different plates, one has a NCRS sticker, but otherwise pretty similar.

I skimmed the pathetic video. I wonder what kind of midyear they totally wrecked in order to come up with that dribble? Looks like a real 4 speed car, but with undercar exhaust that they wrecked. I guess sacrificing a $60k car that survived for 55 years is nothing for them in order to come up with that “epic” video. I’d like to see them make Timberlake and the director fix the damn car. What a waste. Only good thing was the girl.

I don't want to comment on it publicly. Suffice to say, it's not what's in the ad, it's what's NOT in the ad.

Well, can’t see much wrong with the ad. The ad just says Bloomington Certified. The front plate says Gold Certified, but the certificate itself is silver. Can’t see that as being a big deal. Some things aren’t perfect like the transmission is totally wrong, won’t even be the right casting numbers. So it won’t be scored perfectly. Looks like a nice enough car to me. I like the Mecum car for $80k ($88k with buyers premium) MUCH better from the few photos and wallet perspective, but who knows how correct it was.
