Here is some additional info. on the 62 corvette. Vin # says car was built about Jan. 19, 1962. The 870 block that came in the car has a casting date D ( April ) 64. The engine pad is F0417RB ( not a corvette suffix ). The engine is now out of the car. The transmission, rear, ect. have never been removed and to the best of my knowledge are original to the car. The engine has the correct 896 heads dated Nov 17, 1961, the correct 349 intake is dated Nov. 7, 1961, the correct exhaust manifolds 901 and 902. The Carter carb. has been rebuilt. There is no rust except the battery box. A new one comes with the car plus about $1500 in new parts. (not installed) An aftermarket am/fm is installed but the original Wonderbar comes with car. My wife's uncle bought the car in 1979. He died in late 2011 after being ill for many years, car had been in storage. I purchased it from his estate. I have two other corvettes a 1965 conv. and a 1966 coupe and had always wanted a solid axle but do not have the time or space to work on it.
