Default Help a Veteran find his '65 194675S110030

While at West Point Military Academy a friend purchased a new 1965 Convert. He sold it in Columbus Ga in April of '67 as he was shipping out for the second time to Viet Nam. He would like to find out what happened to his car. For the current owner we do have a copy of the original invoice from A. and C. Chevrolet in Fort Montgomery, NY where it was purchased on Mar 11, 1965. If the car did not survive he would like to know that as well.

Auto Data Direct shows "No record found" which indicates it's not currently titled in the US. Not sure if all 50 states are now participating in that National Motor Vehicle Title Information System yet but I think the deadline is past.

Of course it COULD be in a barn somewhere for the last 20 years in which case it probably would not show up in the system.

I remember very well that dealership in Fort Montgomery NY. You could walk in and purchase a brand new 65 vert. For $3,500 right off the showroom floor. I bought one and enjoyed it until we had kids and sold it. Found out it ended up in PA.
Ask your friend if he remembers the Hotel Thayer. I ran into one of their family members here in NC.

Also check the post in the forum related to having vehicle information to see if it is listed and if anyone has asked about that number. The registry is another source. There are a number of reasons it may not be listed as a registered vehicle.

I believe my father bought a 65 at the same dealership and sold it to go off to war as well. His was red with a white top, and the hubcaps. I've got a picture some place of that car in front of his barracks.

Good luck in your search, and thank you for your service to our country.

I thought I would let those looking at this post know that I am still looking for this '65. Even if the car was wrecked we would like to know. No leads yet. Thanks for your help!
