'53 barn find legal question
#41
Just because the oldest son sold it does not necessarily mean it is the end of story unless they cleared up the title issue with the insurance company. The new owner only gets as good a title as the seller had and he could dump a ton of money into it only to lose the car down the road. It was like that Mustang that girl in Southern Cal tried to sell recently only to find out it was stolen in the sixties and she lost the car. If all of this has a measure of truth the saga could indeed continue at some point in time.-Jim

It may be possible if you can prove ownership of the car, but not sure.

yet another story with a real let down ending! if it was real look for the parts on e-bay, maybe Jay's corvette parts. he seems to have a never ending source fo 53-5 parts.

Duplicate Cars Also
Be careful of duplicate cars as well. Buy John Hutchins' 53-55 Registry. Register your 53-55 with him. Protect yourself from having your car duplicated in another state. Reduce the odds.

This saga is about worn out and someone is having a ball with this at Forum members expense. No one has seen the Corvette, right? No photos, right? No VIN, right? Then it gets "sold" to a family member. Good grief! This is like those UK lottery tales or the ones we all get in our emails for us to open up our bank accounts in order to free up millions of dollars we could possibly receive. The legal resolve to this 'legal issue' was specifically spelled out three pages of posts back. Let's move on to reality and put this "legal issue to a barn find" behind us. What's in this barn is more of an odor than a Corvette being found. In my personal opinion.

Okay ,
I just found an original 63 Grand Sport that Chevrolet and their engineers forgot about in 1964 . The car has been sitting in my neighbor's garage , an ex-Chevrolet employee , for the last 44 years .
What do y'all think blah blah blah .

My goodness, so many skeptics.
There is an original 1958 SS prototype just found
and for sale right now on FleaBay.
If I can get pics or a VIN of the '53 I will post them.
All I was just asking a theoretical legal question.
This type of situation could come up for any year/type
of vehicle.
How many 1953 Corvettes are missing?

If you buy a car without a title, there is a chance it could be taken from you.
I bought a 36 plymouth 3 window coupe from the son of a prominant ford dealer. He said the car was his from storage fees and the original owner was in prison. True! I'm glad it wasn't a long sentance because he showed up at my house with the title and the police let him take it.
If he would have been in for 10 years, it could have been very costly.
