Hi Guys,
The last 2 races were the worst in a long time. My car rolled 5 inches at the start and they black flagged me for jumping the start and a stop and go. That put me last again in a strong field.
On the bright side, we made it up to 4th place before we lost one bank of coil packs from getting too hot. I finished the last 3 laps on 4 cylinders.
On my charge back to the front, Stu Hayner in the slow GTO, turned into me after I was already along side of him, and we both went off in turn 2. Of course I was blamed since I was the overtaking driver. In addition to that, I barely touched a Viper that changed his line while he was trying to overtake another car, and he spun. I guess 2 strikes and you are out. They took 10 points away from me.
There were multiple car crashes with an enormous amounts of contact by other drivers, but they did not see fit to penalize them. It was funny that in the drivers meeting they said for the slower cars to give way to the faster cars, and at least give them room to run side by side. The GTO body slammed me as I was on his right side with my LF tire at the front of his door. Whereas, Andy Pilgrim bumped some cars oot of his way and was given the "power move of the race" award. Go figure.
At any rate, my car was fast. It should be good TV on Speed channel next Sunday. We made some great passes and once I got into 5th place, I was catching the leaders by about .3 sec per lap. I made it all the way up to Mclure's Vette but my car started misfireing and then lost one entire bank of coils. I was a dead duck. If the race was 2 laps shorter, we would have had a 4th place. "Life's a Bite".
As for my starts, This time, my car just moved 5 inches but that was enough to trigger a stop and go penalty.
We had a fast car. Fast enough to make it through the entire field to the top 4. Now we have to re-group and get ready for Mosport in ontario, Canada.
Thanks for the interest. We have a double event at Mosport. We have 2 races in the same weekend. One on Sat and one on Sunday. We cannot afford any damage in race one because we will only have 1 day to get the car raceworthy. We will have to qualify again for the second race after the first one. Should be very high pressure.
Thanks

Drifting
At least you will have two starts at Mosport to try and rectify this "Premature thing" (you can order pills from Mexico for that you know)
I'm going to make it up to Mosport either Saturday or Sunday, can have your crew pull my engine and re ring it while I wait, sounds like you won't have much to do.
Hey to bad about the Cadillac's What did Pilgrim do to go from 16th to 4th, turn on that special PCM switch again?
It is Soooooo great to see the independent Corvette teams beating the Cadillac's, I'm quessing if the Audi's win the championship that G.M. will do exactly what they did with the Lemans program and quit! They are never really committed to "Excellence".

Lou,
I was at PIR this weekend and watched all three days. Good racing in all the races. I was watching the GT race from the inside chicane grandstands and was wondering what happened to you on the start. It looked like you had a fast car as you were able to work your way up to 4th. Nice racing on your part. It was interesting how both you and Leighton seemed to develop engine trouble about the same time. Too bad it cost you a good effort, but it doesn't sound like too major of a problem (?).
It was impressivie (from a driving and speed display) to see how Andy Pilgrim was able to come from the back of the field again and almost make it to the Podium. It seems like if he needs to run fast he can, but it seems like he only finds that much speed when he is coming from the back of the feild. If Andy and the Caddy are that fast why wouldn't he qualify better and then finish in a podium position all the time ?
Anyway thanks for putting on a good show and here's to better results at Mosport.

Thanks guys,
We are trying to find the problem as we speak. The team is leaving the shop for Mosport tomorrow. We have some repairs to do, but we hope we can get things working right for next weekend.
We will have 2 races in Mosport. One on sat and one on Sunday. We will have to keep the car in one piece in the first race to have a chance in the second race.
The last race from Portland is scheduled for broadcast on Speed TV, Sunday 1:00 est.
I am sure that it will be interesting. You can see the love tap that cost me 10 points.
thanks again,
Lou Gigliotti LGM

I was also at PIR this weekend in the stands on the inside at the chicane. Great racing all day. I wish I had realized that we had a CF member running - that would have made it more special to watch. I am SO glad the ALMS series is back in Portland.

Oh man.. I didn't know that you have two GT races up at Mosport. That should be great. I wish I would've known sooner and then I would've tried to arrange a visit with friends in Toronto.
Best of luck to you. You're about due for some "Schumacher luck".
Edit: I just watched the race on Speed. A very exciting race I might add. It's too bad that you got black flagged and that you have the problems with the bank of coil packs. You are do for some better luck in Mosport.
