Let's talk about SPARCO seats......
I want to buy a Sparco seat, to bolt into my Z06 for track events only....I won't be using it on the street. I've browsed the Sparco site, and searched the forum archives. Here are a few questions I have:
I am 6'1, 180lbs.....which seat would fit me better, the EVO, EVO2 or Pro 2000? They all look similar. I know the EVO2 is slightly larger, will it still bolt in to the C5 using the Hardbar mounts?
Do all of these seats accomodate an anti-sub strap??
Where can I get a good price and delivery on a Sparco seat???
TIA  :seeya

It really comes down to waist and chest size. Sparco has the measurements on the site. Both the Evo and the Evo2 will fit with the Hardbar rails and both are designed with an opening for the sub-strap.
If the Evo fits you, I have one for sale. It has blue fabric and is in good condition. My price is $350 plus shipping, which saves you a fair bit of money.

I am 6-0 200 and the EVO fits me well. The Sparco Pro2000 is a very good fit as well as the Hoerr Racing, Kirkey or Butler Built aluminum stock car type seats. When you get ready for the rails, we have both plain and powdercoated versions in stock ready for immediate delivery.

I have a buddy with a pair of brand new EVOs for sale. Not sure of the price, but they're considerably cheaper than new. Send me an e-mail if you're interested and I'll get you in contact with him. They're in Amherst, MA.

Ghoffman, I can not find the rails on your site. Do they support the sparco seat adjuster? With your rails can I install my stock seat belt buckle? My plan is to have two sparcos with the stock belt running through the shoulder and hip holes for daily use, is this possible?

Do they support the sparco seat adjuster?
No, they are adjustable but are a bolt in (no sliders). Once set up for you, you can remove and replace the seats back and forth from stock in 10-15 minutes. The kit is complete.

Yes

Please see the following links for more: http://www.c5forum.com/diy/hardbar.php [URL=http://www.2phast.com/Corvette/sparco.htm]http://www.2phast.com/Corvette/sparco.htm</A>
Since these articles were written, some changes have been made, the "gender bender" nuts are stainless steel hex for ease of installation, and the rails are lower on the outside for better fit with the EVO2 and other larger seats. Also the powder coat is now a semi-crinkle finish black, durable and VERY pretty.
Thanks, Gary Hoffman
PS: Maineiac: If you want to drive to Manchester, NH you can see them in person.

OMP's fit too?
Sorry to be a topic thief :skep: :leaving:
I noticed that the EVO's mount from the side. I have an OMP RS racing bucket (www.ompusa.com) that also mounts from the side, and I've got Sparco-made aluminum brackets that I mounted it in my old car with.
Is it safe then to asume that the Hardbar bracketry would work with my OMP Seat, or might there be width issues I have not considered?
Thanks for any help - I'm looking for anything to ditch this busted-up stock seat I've got :nopity

As long as the threaded holes on your OMP are M8 threads and the OMP is no wider that an EVO2 it should fit.

Re: OMP's fit too? (ghoffman)
Thanks for the reply.
In that case, can one of you fine gents tell me how wide the relevant dimension an EVO 2 is? (distance between those mounting points, or for easier measurement, width of the seat-bottoms?)
Threads are M8's.
Am I understanding correctly that as long as the OMP RS is no wider than the width of an EVO 2, the brackets will work, or the RS must be exactly the width of the EVO 2?

From Sparco website:
853F EVO 50
853L EVO 2 53
That is the width at the thigh area (CM)...
Yes, I meant no wider than an EVO2...narrower is better. The EVO and Pro2000 fit very well, the EVO2 is extremely tight. If your seat will fit in the car width-wise, it should work.

Re: Let's talk about SPARCO seats...... (ghoffman)
Hey Gary!
Hope you're well.
In the pictures of the Evo/HB brackets install in your post, it does not look like the stock belts are routed through the hip/shoulder belt holes in the Sparco (or the picture just doesn't show it well enough).
Is there a way to do this? Or are the stock belts forced to go around the outside of the seat?
As always, thanks for all that you do to make our Vettes better!!! :)

OM RS fitment
For the record & for the archives:
I measured my OMP RS, and it came out at about 49-50cm. it's a little man seat (I'm 5'7, 160lbs), so that seems to fit fairly well.
Looks like the hardbar brackets should fit just fine!
I've got a set of Simpson 5-points, all I need now is something to mount them to. Can't decide between an Autopower rollbar or just a simple hardbar. Cost seems to be about the same.
Thanks Gary!

Thanks Chuck, I hope to try VIR sometime, I am jealous!
Well yes, but the problem is the hole on the side of the seat. If you grab
the stock lap belt and try to put through the hole, the lap belt would be
correct but the shoulder belt will be incorrect, and vice versa as you point
out. These seats are really designed for the 5 or (better) 6 point harness.
Realistically, since once you have the seat the way you like it, the entire
assembly goes in and out in about 15 minutes,so most guys put in the racing
seat for events, and the stock seats for street. You are correct, using a 6
point for street is a PITA, but that is what all of these seats are designed
to use. I would not recommend cutting the area above the seat so you can
use both because it might compromise the structural integrity of the seat.
