Why is Motul 600 classified as DOT 4 when it’s dry/wet boiling points exceed Dot 5.1????
According to a few sources Motul 600 has the following boiling points:
Dry: 593F, Wet: 420F
Well, Dot 5.1 is supposed to be at least
Dry: 518F, Wet: 375F
Yet Motul 600 is considered Dot 4
What gives?

P.S. The REALLY confusing part is that Motul has Dot 5.1 fluid which has lower  boiling point (wet 365°F)than Motul 600.

If you don't have brake ducting get that then you don't have to worry. The difference is huge with cooling. I turn Motul to dark tea color in 4 sessions. After ducting it looks like new after three days. I never even bleed it. Air is free and the answer. Now I use PFC fluid which is 1/3 the cost.

John,
You have long been an advocate of brake ducting and I agree that getting air to the brakes is infinitely more effective, with respect to maintaining pedal feel, than many of the brake mods that people are doing. Did you fabricate your own ducts or is there a "system" that can be purchased and bolted on. I need air, but I lack the mechanical motivation to fabricate my own system. Do you have a step by step installation procedure? Do the ducts interfere with any suspension components? Your input and advice is much appreciated.

I will be under the car soon and redoing it. DRM ducting helps but is tight with some size tires. LGM is making me some spindle ducts which should be available soon, I hope :cry . I will call him tomorrow for a update. What ever you spend on ducts you will save a ton on pads. At 400 at set for PFC 01's I like to make them last. Keep ya posted.

Re: Why is Motul 600 classified as DOT 4 Dot 5.1???? (EuG)
No matter what the tests #'s and clasifications say: I have found in "race track" testing that PFC, Motul, and F*R# performance brake fluids have out performed the over priced fluids. I prefer PFC but wonder if the three are not the same and just packaged different. (I know the specs on the cans are not the same)

Yes those plus more tubing run to the rotors front and back EuG I have been using PFC with good results with the ducts and it's 1/3 what Motul cost. If you do drain it it's not like a blood letting. :D

What “other tubbing” are you refereeing to? Any pics?

A few years ago I checked into the Ford fluid after Autozone stopped carrying the PFC Z fluid. I believe that they are both made by either Dow or Dupont, but I can't remember for sure now.

How about the ATE Super Blue (and Gold), which is all I have ever used. Does it not stack up with these other fluids? They have a 536 degree dry boiling point and a 392 degree wet boiling point. Does no one use this stuff anymore?

They have been ordered but not shipped yet. Peter said they should go out no later than tomorrow. That means I will probably get them next Thursday. I don't know if I'll put them on before Sebring on the 19th (Saturday). That would be cutting it pretty close.
Chris Petris found the problem with the clunking coming from the rear (Torque Arm), and I should have the car back on Monday. I will then replace all the fluids in the car (Oil, PS, Brakes, Trans, Diff, Coolant) and be ready by Thursday. This way, if the brakes do come in on time, we'll be in a position to put them on...
