Default Street Tires for Autocross

Since SCCA Solo II added the Street Tire classes, what is the best street tire for the job? C4, 17X9.5 or 17X11 or 18X10.5 wheels.

Aren't those considered soft compound race tires?

I see guys do great on the BFG KDs. Those babies stick.

I think that Kumho makes that new MMX tire which is a street tire, but sticks real good on the track too.

I run BFG KD's and am very pleased with their wet/dry performance. I don't think it comes in a size that will fit an 18x10.5 rim.

I run the Khumo V712 Supra's. They're a good tire and stick well enough. Plus, they're nice and cheap so when you eventually destroy them, it doesn't hurt you're wallet. :)

What about the 285-30 18? Its a bit short but its pretty wide.

|You might want to check further with SCCA. In the stock classes---C5 Super Stock---C4 A stock--- You can run the stock wheel size--required with any size tires that will fit--- your judgement. You can run street or "R" compound---- your choice. And remain in the Stock Classes.

I had an 93 C4 and ran in A stock in 2002. Stock rim size and R compound or street.

I now have a Z06 and will run Super Stock with Stock wheels and choice of tires- Street or "r"compound.

SM2 allows other modifications with street tires.

Yes I know, I am way past Stock Class now. This would be SM2. Anybody know what was the tire of choice for Street Touring at Nationals?

First off the Vette is not allowed in STS. Second even if they let you run it tire size is max width of 225, good luck. All the imports in STS run Falken's. SM and SM2 use the same tire rules as SP classes, So Kumho, Hoosier etc. :D
