Default Low profile Snell approved helmet

I drive a 02’ Z06 and could use some insight on an open-face helmet to use in SCCA autocross. The rules call out Snell approval required, yet at 6’ there is little headroom for a larger helmet. I also use the car as a daily driver and would like to keep stock seat. Any comments appreciated.

I don't know of a low profile helmet.
But if you like your teeth you should get a full face helmet, not open face.
If you should change your mind I'm in La Mesa and had this modified Kirky seat in my Electron Blue C5Z.
Bolts right in to your car, set up for 5 point belts, sub belt and openings for shoulder belts.
I am 6'6" and fit well with a full helmet, you could add a few inches of foam cushion or a bead seat for a perfect fit.
I guess you disabled your private message option?

Someone with only one post doesn't have a private message option. IIRC you need 5 or maybe 10 posts before that becomes available for use.

Much appreciated. I would like to see your setup. I was with the family at Mission Trails, too. If you are open to a visit, let me know.

Not even sure what or how the private messages work.

Have you tried sitting in it with a helmet? I’m 6’4” and have no issues with the stock seats. (Mine is a Bell, but have used others.)

Thanks for the feedback. I assume you’re really reclined. Is your helmet Snell 2005 or a newer series?

I had a Full face Bell with this seat, currently have a Stilo.
My seat provides max head and leg room.
You can pad it and have a cover made to fit you.
The ultimate would be to make a bead seat then cover it in Nomex, my favorite.
I have had 3 made for 3 different cars and they give you best feedback possible.

Snell 2005 helmets are no longer compliant for SCCA Solo/Rally/Time Trials events, and 2010 helmets are no longer compliant for Road Race events. OP, if you can find one get a 2020 helmet to maximize life/usage.

And I disagree that a closed-face helmet is preferable for autocross (track yes, autocross no). Autocross involves a lot of time looking out the left or right windows and you need optimum peripheral visibility, plus the lighter weight of an open face helmet is also beneficial as your head is swiveling a lot to keep ahead of the course. It's quite unlikely you'll loose any teeth on an autocross course as there shouldn't be anything but those pesky orange cones to hit, and frankly I prefer an open face helmet anytime I'm sitting behind a steering wheel with an active air bag anyway.

Whenever I spun out at an AX you know the first thing I thought about, light poles.
This is an AX with the open face helmet.
This is an SCCA AX champion with with her closed face helmet.
