Oh cool - interesting to know results of some testing. I couldn't tell you how the heat corresponds to the temperatures...you would have to factor scales, in terms of comparison. But nice to see good feedback from the testing - interesting noting Rivals can take some abuse, not only short length kinds of stints

Wondering about this...comparison would be 335/315 Rivals, or, 345/315 MPSC2. Both seem not to able to handle 10/10ths...for extended periods of time, from what I gather. But are they comparable for time attack ? Similar class of tire ? Hmmmmm

For AX, not applicable - I hear you need to get heat into the MPSC2 for it to work...and it's less than 200tw.

Up until recently, I've solely ran BFG Rivals in 315/335 and 335 squared in Time Trials. I've got a buddy that runs similar times and he's on RE71Rs. I'm usually faster, but I let him line up in front of me because he only gets 1-2 laps before his tires get too hot, whereas with the Rivals, I usually run fastest time of day on lap 5 or 6, but they don't have enough heat until lap 2. I've found the Rivals like and handle heat better than the other 200 tw, you just have to know they won't be ready on lap 1 unless your outlap is on a 3 mile course.

Like Mr. Sideways said a tire is designed to work in a certain window and I believe the A052 is the lowest, then RE71R and last Rival as far as 200tw goes from my experience. Will know where the SC3 falls in a couple weeks and hopefully RT660 shortly after that personally. Also keep in mind how well balanced a car is and how much sliding a driver induces/prefers plays a factor in how quickly a tire comes up to temp and gets over heated as well as the ambient temp.
