Default when is your next event scheduled?

when does everybody think they will be returning to the parking lot/track/race weekend? In Illinois our "shelter-in-place" is through the end of April and that means no autocross events, track days, etc. until at least may 1st. So the question I have for everybody here is when does everybody think the tracks, autocross events etc will reopen and then accordingly when does everybody think it will be safe to participate.

I'm almost ready to just write this year off judging by how this is all going. Just because "they" might remove the shelter in place rule doesn't mean it's a good idea to start gathering masses of people together. Local autocross is at least 50-100 people, granted it is outside and able to keep distances I'm not 100% sold on it. That reason aside, spending money is another issue. I'm not too keen on spending money unless needed, and racing is not needed. I'm a 34yr old white male that thankfully still has a job to go to and in good health living in NKY (20min south of Cincinnati, OH) which is a relatively low sickness rate, but I'm still cautious.

States will need to lift the "stay at home" rule AND allow travel out of state (which applies to KY and OH currently). My local autocross is in OH, so even if they did have events I can't go.

So to answer your poll...I honestly don't know. Everything is "scheduled" with dates for the whole year but they are taking it month by month basis. IMO for the health of everyone, hobbies can/should be put on hold until this is all under control. Believe me I'm itching to race...a coilover install over the winter REALLY has me wanting to let it rip, but there are more important things going on right now obviously.

May events haven't been canceled yet, but early May seems very unlikely at this point. Late May seems possible though, and June wouldn't surprise me.

If you want to see some history and some projections for your state, this site is pretty interesting:
https://covid19.healthdata.org/unite...es-of-america/
You can type your state in the drop-down that says United States Of America.

I think this site was the source of the 100k figure that was so common for a while, and got reduced to 60k a couple days ago. With any luck it will get revised downward again, but only time will tell.

I’m scheduled at Sebring end of May but consider it to be “iffy” at this point. And if it is a go I’d want to know what adjustments they make. I’ve already been thinking how it will change in car instructing.

Supposed to have one the beginning of May but have all but given up hope for that one. My guess is it'll be July or August if we're lucky.

I expect after June. I certainly won't be doing any events before then. I need to get my "real" life back in order before trying to do anything fun (other than flying, which is still considered essential)

Mid May here, we'll see. I NEED to shake down the car before I race though, I've made a lot of changes and need to validate them before going for points. I'm not sure the neighbors would appreciate me turning out streets into my own private circuit in the meantime.

Here in the Indian region of NCCC, our first event is the second weekend in May at Grissom. I'm hoping it goes on. If not, our first event will be Putnam Park on May 30 and 31. Since the Indy 500 has been moved, I may consider going to Rantoul, IL on memorial day weekend for a three day event with the Midwest region.

The 3 clubs that I plan to participate in events with this year all have events either the first or second weekend of May. I don't think the first weekend in May will happen but am hoping the second one does.

We have an event scheduled May 2-3 (rescheduled from 4/18-19) but I expect that to be scrubbed when our governor eventually extends her Stay-In-Place mandate. Next event after that is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully that one will be able to go.

Haven't been canceled yet, but there's also been no announcement by IMSA or any others on a firm restart/start date. I just don't see SCCA or others starting anything back any sooner than the Pro's do. I'm optimistically looking forward to Daytona on 5/21, but I don't realistically see any racing starting until Fall. It all sucks

Illinois announced yesterday that they are extending our shelter-in-place for another month. While they said parks/golf courses are going to be allowed to open with specific rules/exceptions, i can't find any information on doubt that HPDE days qualify for either of those things so it sounds like June 1st is the earliest I can hope to autocross/HPDE this year.

SCCA had a few events scheduled at Autobahn country club which reports to be opening on May 1st, but I suspect they just haven't updated their website given that our Governor's announcement was just yesterday.

The problem is the powers that be think if we are at a race track there will be this enormous crowd in the grandstands at Autobahn, Blackhawk, etc.

We dropped our May 4th Autobahn date about two weeks prior under the assumption the Chicago area wasn't "bending the curve". Here's to getting on track soon.

$750 for 8 hours seems like alot of money. I am used to paying $150 ~ $185 for a 3 session 1/2 day and $200 ~ $300 for a 5 session full day. Why would somebody pay 2-3 times that for 8 hours of track time.

I can see why; it depends on the price ratio. You see with the cost high, it acts like a filter, so to speak. Not everyone can swing that. As a result, there are more available spots. This is pure economics, even though I did not take an economics class in school, only general social studies...but supply and demand baby, that's what it's all about!
