Hope so. Pretty near everyone running in SSR has them out.

It seems pretty clear cut...

The rule was written for the C4 as those came with spacers and shims - the shims were the part intended by the factory for alignment adjustment; not the control arm spacers. The equivalent to removing the spacers on a C4 would be modifying/milling down the upper C5/C6 dogbones to get more camber.

C5s and C6s only get shims (which look like washers); they are adjusted at the factory and even the dealership as part of a normal alignment. There is no set number for any given car, and again this can change any time they do an alignment as part of your factory approved service.

Recap: C4s have shims & spacers, while the C5/C6 just get shims, thereby making the above rule a moot point of discussion on 1997+ vettes

That makes sense that the washers are only considered shims on the C5 then as I've never worked on a C4, thanks.
