Nice, More hints that whatever midengine thing is coming is a Caddy IMO.

Mid engine will drive the price too high to be the standard Vette. From a marketing perspective, makes sense to have both the rear engine vette that drives a fair amount of volume and the new mid engine sports car as the "halo" for Cadillac (at least for now, while cars still have engines).

I'd be surprised. I expect the Corvette generates more cash for GM by being a "halo" advertising car than it does as a direct product vehicle. Making Corvette its own brand like Buick would kill the halo effect for Chevy, drive up costs, and create one of the lowest volume brands on the planet. I think much more likely that the premium car is a Cadillac. That way you have a halo car for both Chevy and Cadillac, and don't take on the expense of a new brand. Also the possibility that they just get rid of the front engine corvette and only go with a higher end rear engine version. With the performance that the Camero is putting out, you may not need the low end vette any more.

My personal opinion is that the midengine thing is a Caddy and nothing else. It will be their attempt to bring out a halo car for Caddy, so maybe someone will buy a frickin ATS They still wont, but they will try to get SOMEONE to buy that pile of trash. Plus they can then brag about how successful the Caddy racing program is, and GM can have the super successful Corvette Racing, and the successful Cadillac Racing.
Corvette as it sits makes money. It's a license to print money. You don't mess with that. Despite what anyone tells you, a Corvette buyer will NOT step down into a Camaro, even if the new Camaro is fast enough. That just doesn't happen outside of a very small handful of people (who like to let EVERYONE know that they owned a vette and now have a Camaro).
Corvette has history in how it sits. Outside of a few weirdos, nobody knows who Zora Duntov is, or cares. Even among Corvette people, most people don't REALLY know who he was, they get the glamorized image that a few people have perpetuated to give the idea of a "Zora" Corvette some semblance of credibility.
The C8 will have its engine in the front. The C9 will have it's engine in the front. Until they stop making Corvettes, the engine will be in the front. Why? Because it's a formula that sells, a formula with history, and a formula that they know how to do.
The mid engine thing is more likely to be a new Fiero than a new Corvette. GM knows it'd lose far too many buyers to screw with the Corvette that much.

I think it will be great for the brand to have the Calloway GT3 C7r running here, I hope there are some private teams that will run them in PWC and Weathertech GTD now it's a option.

All fun and games, until GM decides they want to run a GT3 program, and force the Callaway out. They did that with Riley and the GT2 Corvette, GM gave their blessing, then a year later decided to venture into GT2 with the Corvette, and refused to allow Riley to build anymore for racing.

GM is all about track identity in Weathertech, so this move is an indicator that having other FR Corvettes on track won't be an issue, as Corvette Racing will have a mid engine car in GTLM.
All I know, is Weathertech GTD is piling up with cars. It's said they may go from 2 AMG's to 7 next year. I sure hope Callaway can either back a team directly, or find a hot customer or two.

Callaway said they won't run the car directly, they will be customer cars, but they will heavily support them. Up to 2 cars for next year, and seems like first come first serve between PWC and IMSA GTD.
