Growing up in Allentown, Nazareth is a mere 15 minutes north. I remember Memorial day weekend in 1969. We had family visiting from NYC and an outing to the Trexler game preserve was planned during the Indy 500. I was a huge Andretti fan and had bet with a fellow classmate in school that Mario would win. I took my portable AM/FM radio with me and needless to say I wasn't disappointed. Then to watch him go on and win the Formula 1 title in 78 was like icing on a cake for me. Fond memories of a great driver. My parents also thought I'm nuts for doing HPDEs. A waste of money and not worth the risk in their eyes, but the most exciting and exhilarating thing I do! My dad is still alive at the age of 92 and shakes his head when I prep the car for an event, but as I leave he does wish me luck.
