Heat Issues LS3 Z51 with Vararam intake
I am curious if anyone else is having heat issues with their LS3? I upgraded my radiator to Dewitts and put on the larger Z06 oil cooler and my oil temp was getting close to 300 after so I had to pull it off after 10-15 minutes on the track. My water temp was up to 240 as well. The Vararam intake blocks a lot of the radiator and I am not sure if that is a potential issue. Does anyone else have any heat issues with that is using the Vararam on a LS3? Maybe I need a thicker oil or my tune is lean? Thanks in advance to for the feedback.

The air temp was 90-95 degrees in Phoenix at Wild Horse Pass east track. The event I ran prior I was having similar issues at Inde in Wilcox, AZ and the air temp was 60-70 degrees. I was able to run all 4 sessions though my oil temp was getting up to 280 by the end of the sessions. After Inde in May I put the Dewitts and the Z06 oil cooler in anticipation for the higher temps in Phoenix this summer. I am sure it helped, but I am looking for other reasons why my temps are so high. I spoke with a few other corvette owners during the track days and their temps are much lower. No one I spoke with had a Vararam though.

I use a Callaway Honker.
The air intake (grill is marginal when blocked)
so it doesn't need blocked.
The Grand sport and Z06 have a larger opening.
That said keeping the intake air temp down will help with HP losses from
timing being pulled because of that

Are you using a 160 t-stat?
Is your air dam damaged?
Is the radiator properly sealed?
Hood vented or not?

Its in the VaraRam.....almost the same as if you had a front plate on the car.
It blocks A LOT of the radiator on those cars. Fine for street cars and drag cars but not for a road racer. Even with a bigger radiator in the car you can not get air to it, so it doesn't do to much to help.
You need to go to a different air intake that keeps the air for the radiator and the air for the intake separate so you do not loose the air flow through either system.
