Corvettes At Indy-Photos
Had a blast at the speedway!
Here are a few photos I shot Friday.
The C7-R's looked and sounded GREAT........."BUT"
There were a sea of Vettes in the Indy Corral.
More to follow with a variety of the other cars.
Will post them on my website once I have a chance to sort through them.
Enjoy

Compared to Mid-Ohio (which I really like) and Belle Isle in Detroit, the Indy sports car course seemed more spread out with flat and wider corners. A few times during the race, there were three cars side by side in the corner that I was photographing from. The track surface seemed to chew up tires quickly as there was a lot more tire debris on the track earlier in the race than normal.
As far as viewing, Indy was fantastic.
Although if you wanted to see the cars at different locations on the circuit, be prepared to do a LOT of walking (which I did). The place is HUGE! My legs are still sore, but I was also lugging a 25 pound camera/lens combination over my shoulder.
There were many viewing options with the spectator mounds at various locations around the circuit, as well as the upper and lower grandstands along the main straight. A $30 general addmission ticket got you everywhere and included free parking inside the circuit with access through the north tunnel under the track.
The sound of the cars (especially the Vettes) roaring down the main straight and echoing around the old lower grandstands was amazing. If you go, I would highly recommend experiencing a few laps sitting in the old lower main straight grandstands across the track from the pits. It made my ears tingle!
Another interesting location was the upper grandstand, high above turn 1 on the big oval. The cars drive towards you coming off the road course portion going into the main straight. You're looking almost straight down at them from a VERY high vantage point.....very cool!
It was a great experience at a very organized, clean and well run facility. You can feel the history of the place. Been to the Indy 500, Nascar and Formula 1 there. I'm alway's in awe when I go to Indy.
