Default First impressions of the new NCM Motorsports Park racetrack [VIDEO]

I spent some time with General Manager Mitch Wright touring the new NCM track. I've watched this project from the onset with frequent visits and I'm really excited to drive this circuit.

1) This track has great rythym.
2) This track offers something for all cars, lower and high HP.
3) Higher HP cars (like a Z06) with good drivers will see speeds north of 160mph.
4) The track will not be hard on brake components. I don't think boiling fluid will be an issue (obviously still need to run DOT 4 or higher).
5) For Golfers-- I like courses that make you use every club in your bag. I see this track the same way in that it will test you in a variety of places, low speed, high speed, camber and off-camber turns, blind apexes and more.
6) There are some nice elevation changes.
7) Mitch Wright (GM) and Matt Busby (track operations) are great guys.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the first Track Day when you come through tech.

I'll try to share more later...

Mike

Thank you for posting this, I visited the track in April and walked as much of it as we could before the pavement was put down. I was there again last weekend and I could not believe the amount of work that had been completed. The wait is almost over!

Thanks for posting, appreciate the opportunity to see the track. I'm scheduled to instruct for the first HPDE - now I can do some prep. Can't wait to run the track and tour the museum!!

I found it helpful to view this picture side by side while watching the video.

Good tip, Mike. You are going to be good to go right out of the box!

Thanks for the post Mike!! I'm looking forward to being there!

Very cool that they have replicated the Porsche Curves and the first chicane along the Mulsanne straight from Circuit de LaSarthe. That is just too cool. Being Corvette Racing's new home test facility this will really be a bonus for them

I hope sometime down the road we can get to run that course (opposed to turning off the Porsche Curves as in this video)

Thanks for sharing Mike and Mitch

Anybody know if the museum has released any better (more detailed) track map yet?

It's still all coming together. What specifically are you looking for?

I was able to get the photo above to a larger scale -- so that will help reviewing the video. But, I hope they produce a good quality track map that shows some of the details; maybe various configurations, , length of the straights, turn numbers, maybe location of flag stations ect. A driving video of the specific configuration to used for the for the first HPDE would be a bonus!!

But I guess we'll figure it out

Thanks,
Mike

There will be more info coming.

I wont confuse any segments until the NCM officially publishes corner numbers, but you can expect the main straight to be approx 4000ft (sans the chicane) and another section to be 2600ft.

I happened to be going thru Bowling Green last week and stopped at the Museum. Mitch was nice enough to give me a tour of the track. Really looks like a nice layout and things seam to be coming together. Looking forward to Sept. and the opening event. JD
