Default LT-1 extra oil??

Most of the track drivers of LS engine cars advise adding an extra qt of oil for track duty. Do the early and mid 90's LT-1's require extra oil too?

Related question - does anyone run a catch can on their LT-1?

No and no.

Catch can, maybe if you were racing.
I've had no problems.

Default Clarification

Yes - context of question is track duty.

I've never put extra oil in my 92 to go on track and I've never used more than about 1/4 qt. by the end of the day.

Sustained right-hand sweeper at Putnam Park ('94 LT1)....

Even with my Canton pan on my '96 LT4 (500+hp), I always overfilled by 1/2 qt.

Every time I overfill my LT1 (93 Camaro CMC car) it blows it out in a session or 2. If I keep it factory full it burns less than half a quart per weekend on a clockwise track. Counterclockwise tracks not so much, but that's a valve cover issue.

I keept mine at factory fill and check it before each session.
Long sweepers are killer - spun the mains, no blow up.
So on goes a canton type road race pan. Hope to get it out of the shop this year
I miss it

I overfilled mine about 1/4 quart. Much more than that and it spits oil in the breather.

Overfill won't hurt anything. If you are worried put an Accusump on it.

Those pics of the scattered LT1 made me cringe.
