Did you guys note a drop in oil temp (road course) with the vented hood, and if so about how much?

I was thinking of upgrading the oil cooler but then thought a vented hood might accomplish that task as well as other benefits.

It should, as water temps drop and that should bring about a drop in oil temps as well. Now it also depends on how the oil cooler is setup and how it is being ran. If it was through a dedicated oil cooler, it might not be as much as if it was ran in the radiator. Over all though, yes oil temp should come down.

I won't be doing an HPDE day until April 2015...yes...next year.

So until then, I won't have any data. Dec 2013, my oil got up to 285 at Daytona Speedway...and I was driving about 8/10ths. But there's lots of wide open throttle on that track.

Hopefully, the hood will be good for 10 to 15 degrees cooler oil temps. Really don't want to get an oil cooler since I do 1 HPDE each year. When I retire in 15 or 20 years, that might change.

I can tell you from experience that the LG hoods definitely lower engine temps and create down force. I used to track my C6Z06 and do time trials. Had some really good success with that car, and won a fair amount of Hoosier tires. Turned a 128.5 at Road Atlanta with a street legal car, full interior, ac, navigation, and heated seats. The addition of the hood made a lot of difference in how far I stayed in the throttle over the hill coming into 10A. I got where I stayed in throttle to the 250 brake marker, hitting 167 on traqmate before getting on the binders really hard. Car was completely stable other than the tire ruts on the track. Unfortunately that car is gone, one of my best friends dead as a result of crashing my car on a test drive after he put a new clutch in it. The hood mostly survived and is for sale on another thread if anyone is interested and knows how to make minor repairs in fiberglass. This is the older world challenge hood, not the new on. Jerry

Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Rob was a great friend, great mechanic, and a great driver. His experience was with import cars with 300 hp or less. He loved my car, and I know how it begs to be opened up, it got the best of him. I can get another car, but miss my buddy! Jerry

Some day I'll take some good pictures with better angles/background with my good camera. But here's another with it all cleaned up from my phone.

Is there any benefit to going with the hood pinned version of this hood? It's cheaper and lighter. But do the hood pins mean it's less likely to fly off at very high speeds?

I have my pin on, weighs less and Pinned properly (which is a custom job. Ask for details on how I did this. NO Welding ;-) )
I have hit 165mph and Car sits down and is more stable than ever!
Love the hood and functionality! I recommend it, but be ready to wait 4 months for it.

Yup. I ask because the dealer put some dash shine, plastic gloss or whatever on mine and it glares like crazy

Yeah screw glare... especially in the winter time.
The dash cover reduces it a lot. Not super aesthetic but I like mine.
I bought mine from CorvetteMods

The hood has been extremely popular and getting more so every year.

We have a new batch about finished and a few not spoken for if anyone is interested.
