Tire for an 8 hour Enduro
At an amateur level, what is the longest any of you have run your Corvettes in a race? Besides a slick, what tires do you suggest?
A buddy and I ran our (NASA ST2 and ST3) C5 Z06s in a four hour enduro back in June at Road Atlanta and the R6s we each ran did just fine. I had on well used, but plenty of meat 275s and I believe he was running scrub 295s.
I am planning on running the 8 hour enduro at Road Atlanta with NASA-SE in December. But I question whether or not an R6 in a 275, 295, or even 315 will last the full length of the race without rotating. NT01 has crossed my mind several times as I used to run those when I DE'ed and loved their longevity.
Thoughts? Real life experiences with an enduro and a tire other than an endurance slick?

Best I've done is a 3 hour enduro with 3 year old A6's with about 80+ heat cycles on them. They were practice and HPDE tires.
Still didn't completely wear them out. I ran them in practice twice more.
They were 315's and I have spherical bearings so the wear was perfectly even all the way across. I would think a set of properly 2 or 3 heat cycled slicks should last 8 hours. Depends on the compound though.
Get a really nice set of 305 Conti's from Grand Am those should make it.

what are your lap time goals? Heck you could get an A6 to run that long with a good shock package and if you weren't running 8 hrs of TT laps and alignment was set up for wear, and not speed

17's won't fit over my brake package. I am buying two more sets of OEM C5Z06 wheels this evening to get more 18s.

Same as in the 4 hour enduro. The car was comfortable running a steady 1:41-1:46 pace, so I think that is our goal for the 8 hour. Maybe even back it up even further and run 1:50s to see if we can stretch the fuel mileage. That I why I was thinking of NT01s. Cheaper and will last even longer than R6s.

I want to stay away from slicks because whatever I use, I'd like to use again later if there is any meat on them and not have to deal with changing setup forms and whatnot.

The car will have coilovers, sphericals, and aero by that point in December. So I would think I would be able to get pretty even wear out of them as you mentioned.

I think NT01's would feel to too greasy after 30 minutes...IMO wouldn't be any of my top 5 choices.
Slicks would be at the top of the list, Pirelli's or Conti's....maybe Hoosier R100's but in Dec. you could use R80's possibly.
I run the same setup as far as alignment with 305 slicks and 315 A6's.
Only changes are shock settings.

Call or email me and I'll share what has been working well for me. Obviously weight and weight distribution will make some difference but it will get you in the ball park.

Don't know which track you are running but if the tires have time to breathe somewhat on each lap it can make a great deal of difference. As far as brand, I have completely destroyed A6's in a little over 2 hrs. R6's won't last unless you can ease up on them during the race or at long stretches on the laps. NT01's have always lasted long sessions for me without getting too disconcertingly greasy. You may want to keep a little more pressure in them than for short sprints.
