I had a chance to sneak away here and there from the Ride & Drive event. Awesome cars and Mr. Mayer you were looking great, sorry I didn't get a chance to swing down and say hi.
I had to post this first car, it appeared to be an old cup car from the mid 70's would be my guess??? This car was beautiful, ear piercing loud and super fast to boot.
Enjoy,
Aaron
I saw Lance Knupp's old T1 car, who bought it????
Me working hard getting people in cars.

I think Gene is getting close to 80, BJ said he still gets around RA in the high 1:20s

(sorta). It is a short track stock car chassis with a mostly steel body.
Weight I think is around 2900-3000. It is powered by a 800 HP Dodge cup motor.
Gene is one of the winningest pro road racing drivers in history.
Gene cut a 1:26 and change in qualifying not far off the top ex TA cars.
I think Gene is around 75 now and still a master of Road Atlanta.

Thanks Aaron. great pictures.
I wish I knew you were up there. There was sooooooooo much down time between qualifying and the race. I would have got some of the V8 guys to come up and try out the Kuhmo autocross.

Bob did not make Sunday's race as his tranny went south on the way back to his paddock.
Tom Leonard did a fine job on Sunday in an abbreviated race with four laps under caution. He ran well up in the overall order hanging with some of the TA types. Beautiful car, well prepped and FAST.

Sunday was to be the real battle, with me driving, as Bob doesn't have a prayer of hanging with David. Unfortunately, his run of bad luck continued with a broken tranny.
Maybe NASA in June will be better.

Yea, as Bosco said, turned out to be a dud. The damned ECU decided to play games again on the first lap Saturday, after behaving for 3 weekends in a row.

I wondered what happened to your car. I was standing on wall as you came onto the back straight and the car just shut down and Mayer went by. That explains it, I was hoping to see a good battle between you guys. Sorry about the ECU
Nice car btw!
