I'll add some more Watkins Glen events to your list. If those Watkins Glen dates aren't enough there are more of them posted on the WGI web site under car club corral and then under on track schedule. There are several more Porsche and BMW clubs that hold events there as well as several driving school companies. During the season, other than dates around the big race dates there are schools almost every day at the track.

Bill -

Would you or anyone else know if any clubs are sneaking into Monticello this season? I am guessing no, but I thought that a few clubs might get a special invitation. Unfortunately, the initiation fee there is not within my budget.

I got to run it twice and it was a pretty good track. The only downside was lack or space and parking for HPDE, they just don't have the facilities to handle hundreds of guests at one time.

Also, the track was a little too busy. Turn after turn after turn. It is murder on tires and brakes, but if they were to open it back up I would go as there are some really fun and challenging parts.

The back strait is probably the longest outside of Pocono Tri-oval that I have personally been on. It reminds me of the mid ohio strait after the horshoe turn (or whatever they call it), but on steriods. I could easily hold the pedal to the floor at the kink on Mid-ohio, but holding the pedal to the floor at the kink at Monticello really takes some *****. You are taking close to 1+ G turn at 140mph with no banking.

Also, there is a quick right, left, right that just makes your head spin (I literally got lightheaded). I might only do a couple events this year (hurting financially), but if they open it up, that would be one of them.

Thanks for posting this. Perfect time to start planning the season. Hopefully, the snow will be gone in April!
