Not start anything but when was the last time corvette racing had a car go out due to engine failure? GM builds the engines now instead of Katech and both cars are out due to motors. After that amazing repair to the car it ends with a blown motor.

So when the Risi car quit with gearbox issues we should toss the Ferrari engineers under the bus?

The shock of the wreck could easily have contributed to the failure--broken seal, unusual vibration, etc. GM has been through a lot in the last 24 months--they built the fastest cars on the grid--give them a break.

Go Corvette Racing--get 'em next time!

The asshat driving the Peugot insists it was the Vettes fault and every commentator was like "yeah, right". They are in France and Peugot is a local brand. 2+2=4. They got what they deserve by blowing up.

I will say that the coverage of the Corvettes was fantastic this time! Plenty of camera time and special reports.

This is the right attitude to have rather than slam the GM engines. Name another brand that can get the HP we get with pushrod technology and natural aspiration. Everyone else has to either add cylinders or forced induction to get our HP. Don't throw our guys under the bus. We had a great showing for a first year car. Its amazing how many people will slam the engineers the sec anything goes wrong but if they won they would be praising them to high heavens. Fair weather supporters comes to mind.

That is all true but it's hard to forget the fact that none of the C5/C6R Katech motors blew. 11Years and not a single blown motor. For the first time they go in house to build there motors and they blow. The corvete racing team is one of the best. Getting that car rebuilt in 30mins then it running the fastest lap yet after that wreck is a test to quality of the team and the deign of PrattMiller. Failures happen it's racing, but it's strange that new motor and builder and they blow.

What I have yet to hear anyone address and the commentators brought up only once is that they were actually running on pure petrol based fuel when they normally run these same engines on E85. Does anyone think that that might be an issue?

The second engine failure was due to the crash and rupturing the oil storage sustem and driving back losing oil.

And the crushing blow in the Esses certainly DID contribute to the engine failure

The oil tank did have to be replaced but hole was above oil level.
New one ratchett strapped in.

Added shots from late night, crash repair and cleanup and packing
up after race. See:

We were at the GT2 winning paddock at the last hour of the race where we hang with Wolf Henzler as he nervously waited for the end and final win for their car.
