just wait, golf cart, extra tools you don't really need, awnings, big screen TV's........it adds up slowly, but surely!
Early on, I made a trip to Lime Rock and Mid Ohio (2000miles all said and done) where I was blowing a tire every 300 miles. I didn't know what was wrong, since the trailer was only half full. Later I realized I was BARELY over the limit of the tires, and I could have simply moved my tool box into my truck and I would have been fine.

I hear you about the tire weight limits. I just replaced all 4 with e-rated tires which you pay through the nose for, versus D. Exactly for the reason you mentioned David.
Not so much because I want to put more heavy stuff in the trailer... just for additional safety margin. Already replaced one tire for a cracked valve stem... next time, I'm going all metal valve stems.

Maynor29, I tend to agree about E vs D (although may disagree with us), but my 235/85/16's really aren't that much more expensive in E. I'm not going to replace them all just for the heck of it, but one by one......
Still have to be carefully though, axles are often rated even lower than the OEM tires, so being close to capacity is still easy to do and extremely dangerous (or at least inconvenient)

I've replaced all the D rated tires on my trailer with E's after a few blowouts at very inconvenient places. Seems the price difference was negligible.

Try Googlelating "Carisle trailer tires". Seems Discount Tire has them, but you might have to special order the "E's."
I haven't had a blowout since I shifted to all E's a couple of years ago, and that includes hauls to Watkins Glen, RR, R/A & Barber, all longhauls.
