If this is the wrong forum, please move this.
I found some old pics, early - mid 70's. I thought you might enjoy.
Sumit Point, WVA.

No.88 is a L88.

Racing a Corvette would'nt be any fun without a couple of these.

I raced motorcycles and my vintage vette there in the 70s. I was there when the 427 Cobra (#3009) of Sam Feinstein "broke a cam" and allowed Bob Tullius megabuck 12 cylinder Jag to win A Production in 77.

Not Corvette's but this is is what Paul Newman started out in. No. 75.

He actually remembered us at each race. He drank Strohs beer, drank at least one with him every race. Our girl friends were in shock and awe to say the least.

Then one year he rolled this out....

Back in the day, Group 44 had their race shop in an industial park off of Spring St. in Herndon Va. I don't believe it was a repair shop. The team was pretty high dollar for the day, thats one reason why everyone rooted against them............ Unlike Paul Newman who in the beginnig pulled his car on a open trailer with a stationwagon. Down to earth fun guy who just happened to have a famous background.

Cool, thanks.

It appears the same with the Patrick Dempsey...every interviewer mentions his background before asking him a question and he always looks almost uncomfortable, like he just doesn't see himself as anything but a driver.

One more question if you don't mind, what events where these that would bring someone like Paul presumably all the way from CA?

I saw him many times at Sears Point back in the day. My dad and I would go hang out with him and BS about racing and my mom and all the girls would watch us and be all giggly and not come over. When we would come back they would yell at us for not introducing them to him....we would roll our eyes and say "why don't you just come over and talk?"

:-D
