You know Kirk Racing makes (or at least used to make) a 6-point for C5s which (if it can be installed in my FRC/ZO6 hardtop style car) should certainly work in a convertible:

You weld plates to the frame, and bolt the cage to the plates. Great thing is that it is removable (except for the plates). I actually got this from Dave Farmer (thanks again Dave).
