Default Wider tires vs coil overs

Which one of the two, wider tires or coil overs, would give me greater cornering speed. Thanks for you considerations.

IMHO the way to the fastest cornering speeds, Seat time, the best line, correct alignment for the track, better rubber then wider.
Hope this helps.

What are you running now? What size rims do you have?

Tires are first

i'm running stock wheels with 275/40/17 BFG g force KD's. I'm thinking of putting 17"x11" wheels with 36mm offset on the rear with 315/40/17 g force tires and leaving the front as is.

That should work. But as stated above track time is the best. The tires in stock size should be good too. There may be other things to do first as coilovers are a bunch of money. Set of tires and rims are costly too. Look for bang for the buck.
