Do I need an accusump?
While I am installing my new DeWitts, and the upgraded sc bracket from A&A, I thought I would go ahead and do the oil cooler. Do I need to do an accusump while I am at it, and which size will I need. I daily drive my car and track it about once a month, but more if I didn't have to repl something every month. Thoughts?

270's aren't bad...you should be fine.
I like accusumps, and think they are a great upgrade for any track car. Even if your oiling system is healthy, its nice to be able to prelube the bearings at EVERY startup....makes me happy every time I crank up an engine at the track.

I was at 288 at Lowes a couple of weeks ago. I was going to shut it down at 290, but then started short shifting and in never got higher, but my times went down. What size would I need - 2 qt or 3 qt?

The Accusump is a good mod. It is not absolutely necessary, but does provide some insurance. I would think a 2-qt would be fine.
That said, I don't have one. As far as temps, with an external cooler, my oil temp usually gets up to the mid 270-degree range on track. After 45+ track events and 52000 miles the engine is still strong, but I couldn't guarantee it'll see 100K miles.

Oh... and I put a G5-X2 cam in in Jan 07 and the car made 436 rwhp/397 rwtq so the motor is still very very strong. She has just over 80k on her now.

Seeing I am plumbing in an oil cooler, wouldn't now be the best time to do the accusump also. That was pretty much my thinking.
