Default Which is your favourite book on driving ( techniques/ racing / skills)

I like reading and have found some books on driving skills.

I specially like " Going Faster " by Carl Lopez.
This book covers a lot about driving a car on a track.

I also like " A twist of the Wrist " by Keith Code.
This one is more bike oriented but has a lot that applies to driving dinamics.

So what are your choices?

I've read a bunch of stuff and watched the video "going faster" ... and I've decided that I need to practice heel/toe and master my braking techniques. ... seat time with a good instructor in the car ...
Book-wise, I'd buy Ross Bentley's books.
YMMV

A great old book that is often quoted in newer books is "Driving in Competition" by Alan Johnson. Although pictures are dated, how he breaks down the various corners on a race track is very effective. With his method you can look at a course map and see which corners are the most important to work on for better lap times. I have read a lot of books on driving and I still think this is one of the best.

I like the Physics of Racing series. I'm a scientific kind of guy, I guess.

Great information. And you can't beat the price (free).

ive watched the video going faster and now im reading the book. book is pretty technical and sometimes tough reading, but it is very helpfull.

I can see a lot of the mistakes im making and looking forward to more seat time to work them out.

I like "Competition Driving" by Alain Prost. I think it is out of print, but I am sure it is available on-line somewhere. Prost won a few races:
85,86,89,93 F1 World Champion
83,84,88,90 World Runner-up
51 GP wins
798.5 championship points
106 podium finishes
41 fastest laps

My favorite book is a video:

http://www.amazon.com/Skip-Barber-Fa.../dp/B0006A9I2A

Books can explain things, the physics, etc., but there is nothing like seeing the racing line in motion. There is also a great video about driving Watkins Glen. Some of it is specific to the Glen, but there is a lot of great general driving instruction worked in as well, applicable to most any track you'd drive. If a picture is worth 1000 words, a video is worth a million, IMHO.

I've read "Going Faster" and the "Speed Secrets" series. Both are worthy, but Going Faster just broke down everything in a more detailed and scientific manner. Speed Secrets didn't have too much new vs Going Faster, though some unique points were made.

Pocono PA,

It's a lot more body positioning, advanced drills and videotaping the sessions.

His courses have really improved my riding and driving.
