Give me ventilated hood ideas please!

my JCWhitney Louvers came in. They are pretty flimsy, and the louvers are not as large or as deep as I would have liked. However, I think I'll try them anyway. Will post photos when I get around to putting them on. Maybe by Roebling, likely not.

2 sources for ducts, louvers, outlets
These businesses sell carbon fiber products; (caveat) I'm not personally familiar with them however:

I'm "dremmeling" my louvers today. My cordless Dremmel keeps dyeing on me, as I'm too impatient to actually let it charge fully, BUT when I do, I'll post photos.
Not a perfect setup, but for $80, I think it is money well spent. Should be able to get them on for Roebling IF I get the rest of the car done.

sorry for the crummy photos, but camera phones still aren't ready for prime time.
Anyway, I opened up the front 4 louvers, but left a few slivers of the plastic for reinforcment. I left some of the OEM hood brace in place, but took a lot of it out.
btw, this is an old hood I had in my shop, so it's no great loss if I decided this doesn't work.

no, it's really cheap, really thin plastic. If it melts away, I may just have two big holes in the hood.
I'll take lots of duct tape or aluminum/rivets to Roebling, just in case

oh sorry, I'm hoping to do the NASA roebling races next weekend. It will be a shake-down event for me, but I am still looking forward to actually driving the stupid car again.

I may bend up some aluminum strips at 45deg angles, in case my plastic louvers melt off. 4 "slats" should be just as effective, and looks aren't my primary concern.

For those willing to make their own louvers i came across some prebent metal vents. They come in various widths and lengths but some slight trimming will be neccessary. Easily paintable as they are in primer white. Cheap too.

For what it's worth, my "homemade" extractor hood does draw a lot of air on the street...in other words, it gets quite hot. I coated the louvers inside and out with Ceramic paint, and I'm hoping they don't melt this weekend at Roebling.
Long term, I think I'll find a better louver, or just do the Aluminum "slat" method over my existing holes. This type of ingenuity is why I like NASA so much....you can try anything and no one cares

Hood vent solution?

They are around 1-1.5" tall, seem to work well so far.
The rear hood pins are on small aluminum brackets off the factory latch points. The fronts bolt into holes in the front fascia bracket and the tops of the fender wells.
