Default Another Hardbar crash test (OUCH!)

With permission of the owner, (but name withheld) I post these unfortunate pics that has a good ending. He was using our Hardbar harness bar system and walked away unhurt. As the owner described: The crash happened "at the end of turn 4, Laguna Seca, I either put a rear wheel off or there was something on the track. My exit speed was near 90. As I tried to save, the car hooked up and shot across the track and went into the tire barriers about 60."

that's an ugly head-on hit. Can't ask more from a harness bar than that!

I own a hardbar unit myself. Hopefully, I won't put it to the test anytime soon.

Too bad for the car. Totaled for sure. Looks like frame damage.

now lets talk about those wheels he won't need.....(my scumbag comment for the day)

Bummer, reminds me a lot of my wreck last year. In my case, though, it was straight into a cement pit wall. My Hardbar and Teamtech harness let me walk away w/ no injuries.

I have done it too, only sideways, at about 120 at NHIS. Real world results are the bottom line really. BTW, I did sell my one side of tires and CCW's and I was happy to get the money.

thats a shame, definitely a testament to the strength of these C5's in high speed wrecks. I can honestly say that we are racing some of the safest cars out there. (tell your wives that... )

hardbar makes great stuff.

Sadly California insurance policies specifically exclude track use as a matter of course. That is a shame to suck up that kind of expense. He was lucky not to be killed, that is a classic Hans Device crash, a good idea if you plan on whacking straight into something... That is a really difficult place to crash , turn 4 at Laguna, I have only ever heard of one other crash there and I called it my home track for 12 years. He must have really been going like mad, a lot more than only 90... Cars can be replaced though checkbooks are tougher...
