Default Drilled and Slotted brake rotors

I have a question about the Drilled and Slotted rotors that are for sale on a auction web site. My question is what kind of quality are these for under $150 for all 4 rotors. Anybody using these?

those are for bling, drilled can create a weak spot for cracks to develop , do a search there are many posts on rotors.

There are numerous sources for cost effective replacement rotors such as Rock auto / Napa , who have new rotors for $16- 20 each .

Not on this section of the forum. Crack too fast. Drilled and Slotted are for bling, not performance stopping.

Stay away from drilled rotors, they tend to crack, slotted rotors will crack also, just not as fast as drilled rotors.

most of us mange to crack solid rotors on a regular basis, drilling holes making them weaker isn't going to go over to well here.

I long for the day that drilled and slotted rotors go away like white letter tires. Ask any structural engineer about how notches and holes cause failures in brittle materials. It is like a Junior level undergrad common knowledge. The holes in the fuselage of the 737 you call windows all have doublers around them to compensate for the holes.

OK, After reading dozens of posts on here for the last few days there is something I dont quite understand. Now bear in mind I am not an aerospace engineer, BUT I have seen on this site that plain rotors, not drilled ,not slotted, have a cracking problem as well. Some guys talk about buying 3-4 sets at a time. Some theroy on the cracking problem is from rapid cooling of very hot rotors. Many of the posts have stated the cracks are mainly on the outter side of the rotor because of cool air hitting the rotors when the car is parked back in the pits after a session. Is that right or wrong. My question to those who have had a rotor crack, is it mostly the fronts and do you cooling ducts on your cars. Is there any visual way to see if there is a problem before a crack occurs?

Do you see anythink other than heat check on them, or bang and you toss on another set? Are yours plain, or drilled-slotted?

I have seen this post hundreds of times.
Drilled/slotted rotors are BS according to all of these guys.

1) if you don't race then the bling effect is real.
Get them and enjoy the heck out of them.
2) done right driled/slotted rotors rock.
Check out the new Z06 rotors. Drilled, slotted?

If you don't race then you can get just fair quality drilled/slotted rotors and have no problem. My Brembos have been great.
If you do race then you had better buy the best. Guess what? They still are drilled and slotted.

Then why you structal spans like bridges have holes in structal members? I-beams I have seen solid, and with cutouts...

Bridges don't get to 1300 degrees. Strucutral memebers are made it be light for material cost, erection, transportation cost and it would also reduce wind load on the bridge.
