LG:

Great looking machine. Sorry the first race didn't go better.

I was wondering about the engine control system in WC. Is this based on the
GM LSx computer, or something else?

Does it come with a package to edit engine parameters, or do you use something
like the aftermarket programs, e.g. http://www.hptuners.com/ ?

Just curious.

Best of luck for the rest of the season!

Thanks

We use a standard GM computer and tune it with LS1 edit. We don't use any of the GM Traction controls but we are allowed to use Traction control.

With the restrictors that they make us use, they kill about 40 hp anyway.

Thanks

I can't speak 100% for Lou, but I know many use LS1-edit (I do). I personally started with a GM ASA computer, then tweaked it with LS1 edit. I'll dial in a new program once I get my new LS2 engine in place. I expect it to be very similar to my old LS6 program, as the displacement is only slightly great, and the restrictor being slightly smaller.

Dave

**The ASA computers were done for 58psi, and I ran my old car at 52psi, so I had to richen things up about 10% over the GM program. I also raised the rev limit significantly over the ASA burn, as they were done for engines running stock bottom ends.

Oh man! I'm in St. Petes now. Got here Tuesday. On my way from the airport I see a big billboard for racing in the streets of St Petes... Damn it! I'm flying out next Thursday and will miss it. I would love to have been able to see you guys race in person and stop by your pit area.

Oh well, like they say, timing is everything... Maybe I'll catch you guys somewhere else.

I'd stay over longer but I'm heading back to NC to pick up my 02 Z06

Lou, the car looks great. Can't wait to come watch you in person. So what happens to your old C5 cars?

Watched the race on Speedvision Lou. Sorry about the continuing problems with the head cracking. But you sure were giving them a run for their money while it lasted. What's the story with the heads cracking? Are they ported too much? I know there were a lot of rule changes this year. Can't wait to see you get that problem taken care of so you can go the distance and give all these factory guys a run!

The problem is porting the heads too much. I think that Lou said someplace that he welded up the weak area of the heads and had it approved by the governing board. Hopefully, this will never happen again and he can get back to racing.

Car looks great! That's a pretty wild looking hood. I'm sure it helps with cooling. After looking at the front end, wouldn't it be nice if you could utilize the stock driving/fog light location for brake ducts? That's probably against the rules.

I still don't understand the heads cracking. I had one set crack back in early 03, but the engine still ran fine. I pulled the heads to install thinner gaskets, or I would have never noticed. GM traded them no questions asked.

They do weld the heads around the rocker bosses, but it seems to be a relatively rare problem these days.
