I'm looking to buy a transponder, preferably hardwired, for my car. Anyone got one? What does it take to change one over from one driver to the next, for recording purposes?

Or maybe there's a forum vendor who has a reasonable price for a new one?

One good place to check/ask is www.apexspeed.com. This is where the SCCA open wheel guys hang out. Many/most of them/us have hard-wired AMB transponders, so if you put a WTB ad up there, it's not uncommon to find somebody that has one - that's how I got mine for the 'vette.
