I ruined this nice '58 diecast...
Just for fun. I wanted a nice before and after display for the upcoming car shows. don't yell at me it it doesn't work right away. I'm a caveman.
I'm gonna paint the trunk lid light yellow to look like a Panama Yellow trunk lid soon. and note the fuel injection in the trunk!

It's even got the wrong hood on it!!!The nice one don't look like a 58.Aren't they supposed to have chrome spears running down the middle of the trunk? Can't really see the hood to see if the louvers are there.Still a very nice job.I'm no where near that talented.I've got so many kits that you put together but I don't have the attention span, now back when I was 12-14 I'd work a model for a month until it was perfect. The ones I do now I allways do the engine first and thats the end of it.

The '58 was a red/ silver cove car. I ground off the hood louvers with an angle grinder and then primered the hood to hide the evidence. I taped off the cove and painted it white. I just pulled off chrome and stuff with pliers. I added primer as needed and then roughed it up in my blasting cabinet with aluminum oxide. The blue door I just opened and taped off and covered the rest of the car with shop rags.
I did this 53-4 several months ago. I just blasted it and ground the wheels on on a bench grinder. There was a nice natural color underneath the white.

that has to be the most silly neat idea. especially if you have a photo of your car before resto and try to match it to the photo. then you would have a 3d photo.

I swear it was not like that when I shipped it to you via FedEx!!!
Nice job, I have seen a 60 something like that in the stores. And yes, nice touch with the flat tire and car parts in the trunk. Perhaps a partially broken tail lens???

How about rusting out the birdcage??
Instead of grinding the tires completely away. Leave a little material there and heat it up a bit then apply pressure this should flatten the remaining "tire" giving a flattened out appearance.
Nice job on those

That '62 I got from you is for a friend. He has a '62 basket case that's awaiting restoration. His car's gonna be silver/red, so I got him that model for inspiration.
