Default Question For Sony Head Unit Owners

Would you know if the built in low pass and high pass filters are available using the built in amp or only the line outs or both ?
Thanks and Happy New Year

Man, you never even let me have a chance to reply to you in your other thread message about this...

your answer : no. Line out only. I tried to pilfer through Sony's website to find a picture of the back of your deck, but no luck. Sony's website has so much crap in it, that its hard to find anything. I apologize for not being able to help you more.

There are 3 sets of 4 volt line outs plus front and rear wires from built in amp. If the built in active crossover is only available to the line outs the i guess i will be using my passive's till i decide to get another amp.
I emailed sony in hopes of getting a definite answer

and it would be a good idea to just leave it that way after you amp it, too. Just for saftey sake.

Looks like i got my donation back

Thank you for taking a moment to contact Sony Online Support.

The front and rear preamp outputs have a selectable high-pass filter that may be set to 78Hz, 125Hz, or off. The subwoofer preamp outputs have a selectable low-pass filter that may be set to 78Hz, 125Hz, or off. These settings can be done only on the unit itself.

Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season!

How in the heck can the front, rear and sub outs have all the same cutout selections ?

That is an easy question. Every HU I've seen are like the Sony you discribed. The idea behind using the same freqs are not to lose any freqs. For example, if you select 80Hz for both hi-pass and low-pass, freqs above 80Hz will go to you mids/highs and freqs below 80Hz will go to the sub. There are cases when you would use different cut-off freqs. For example, if you have larger front speakers (8") you might use 50Hz high-pass for them, 125 Hz high-pass for the smaller rears but still use 80 Hz for the sub.

Really though, thats great they actually responded. I am shocked. If it were HP, you would of been waiting for years. Hell I even had an HP corporate account at one of my old jobs, and I still couldnt get help! But its great Sony responded.
