Default i WANT MY STOCK C5 UNIT TO SOUND BETTER! PLEASE HELP

I have a 02 ZO6 and I want to keep the STOCK head unit but want to do some improvements. How much improvement will up-grading the stock speakers make?

Does anyone make a small sub assembly that will fit in one of the areas outboard the rear well areas?

Will adding a set of tweeters in the front help anything?

I'm good at mechanical stuff but this audio stuff is something else!

Thanks for any and all recommendations.

hey Bill,
I made my own box the other day for my set up, not too hard.

here is the top of the box, its made from hi quality MDF, we sanded down the edges so that it will fit flush where the old cover used to be:

here is the box before we put it in the car, note the lines drawn with pencil to outline where the box sits below. I dont have any better pics of the box itself, but you get the idea. The box isnt all that big either, it doesnt need to be (atleast for a 400 watt RMS dual voice coil 10" Rockford sub):

here is a pic of us testing the box finished in the car, it hasnt yet been carpeted:

hope this helps..

just be cautious about installing the amp, ive had crazy problems with my electrical system the day after i installed it, i think it has to do with where i connected my remote wire to, and possibly where i connected the ground. Also, i think i need to upgrade the battery ground as well, the stock ground is horrible.

Dont bother giving Bill Curlee advice... Even after I sent him private emal to tell him we were just kiddn with him, he proceeded to write me a rather nasty letter. His immaturity really showed through..

sorry bill

but after I personally replied to 3 other seperate posts about the EXACT SAME question in the last few days you would THINK that someone would SEARCH the topic (like I do) before posting a totally redundant qusetion.
and then they have the NERVE to get pissed off when he gets replies like the above.

do you think that I have never had a reply like the one that I gave you?
think again. (and I didn't throw a little temper tantrum either.)

Bill,

I'm sorry that you have no sense of humor.
but that's not my problem..............it's yours.

I have better things to do with MY time.

no hard feelings?

good luck.
