Gots some questions, want to put a CD changer into a '01 C5 with Bose...

Alright guys I have a question, my mom wants to get my dad a CD changer for X-mas... He has a '01 C5 with bose speakers. Head Unit looks like a common GM headunit. I am pretty sure most '01 up headunits from GM's were CD chagner compliant. What would I have to go about doing to get a Cd-changer to work with the factory head unit. Should I go factory style, I think I found a cable, and changer for ~$500 new. Or do you guys reccomend aftermarket since it will hook up and work the same for less. I know ideally, pulling the stock system and speakers out woudl be the thing to do(I at least am not impressed with the BOSE system in the vette I think the monsoon in my Camaro is better and I that isn't even that amazing) and start over but its not an option. Thanks in advance.
