Default Ever hear of USD Audio

Has any one heard of Speaker Works/UDS audio? I have been to their shop in Orange, CA to listen to systems for my C5. They seem to want to push their USD brand subs and Zapco amps. Are these any good?

Thanks in advance for the responces.

Speakers Works and USD have been around forever. Both USD products and Zapco are excellent products....pricey but good stuff. You should have an excellent experience with them. By the way...who did you talk to?

Cool...I was not sure if Eric and Pat (his brother) were still working the floor there. I have not talked to them in years. Good guys.

EatRice, here is a partial list of what I am considering installing.

Alpine CDA 9833
Alpine KCA 420i Ipod interface
Boston, MB Quarts, or JL 2 way components up front

I am not sure what to do about the sub. I have been looking at the JL Stealth box and others similar to it, or either 2 6 or 8 inch subs in the side pockets. The amp would be mounted either behind the passanger seat or on the back of the hatch.

I have also been looking at the Alping MRV-F450 and JL 500/5 amps.

Any suggestions or recomendations. I am not looking for a show car system, just something better than the Bose.

I do plan to install all of this my self.

Thanks

Everything you are listing looks good. I would go with a three way setup in the front doors. There is plenty of room in there for a 8,4, and tweet. I think you would be very happy with a stealth box. I do not think you can go wrong with any of those products.

Pat and Eric are stereo gods. Eric tests speakers for "Car Audio and Electronics" which is a great magazine. USD has had an enormeous amount of trophies to prove they are great. If I recall right, Richard Clark used modified USD drivers in the reference Grand National.
Any advice they give you, take it as if was gold.
Zapco are great amps, you get what you pay for.

Actually Speaker Works built the Grand National. They were winning with it and then Richard bought it. He modified it and won more. Last time I talked to Richard he still had the car. Silver...if you go there again. Ask if Pat still has the Acura that they built and then he bought. If so see if you can listen to that car. It is awesome.
