KDUniverse said that you'd be a good source of knowledge.

I just got an '01 Acura CL Type S. I was thinking about putting in a remote start system. I was wondering what were the good brands. What are any things I need to think about(are there multiple types of remote start kits) and most importantly.. how much for one installed? Thank you for your time!

I prefer anything made by DEI...Viper,Python,Sidewinder..Ungo and Clifford are also owned by DEI. I have been installing alot of the Ungo remote start/security systems lately and like them alot. Clifford pieces are excellent hands down BUT they require someone that is willing to know all the ins and out of their alarm. If you are a gadget person and can afford one the Clifford would be the way to go. They are generally 300-600 more than your standard DEI when you compare same features.
Your car will also need an anti theft bypass to make it remote start. That is not a big deal but a few extra dollars. When you shop your remote start make sure you talk to the shop/installer a few times before getting the install done. Find out how much experience they have with remote starts and if they are a certified dealer with the product you choose. Try to take a look at one of their alarm installs if you can...some shops won't show you. It should look very neat and tidy under the dash. An alarm that has been installed to the fullest potential will not be noticeable at all. Price varies with product and features..if you want drop me a line at SoundsGr8@hotmail.com and I can give you a few different prices. If you don't mind a little drive.
